The Refuge
WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE DIRECTION GOD IS LEADING OUR CHURCH AND STUDENT MINISTRY. STUDENTS ARE MORE THAN JUST NUMBERS TO US. EACH STUDENT THAT WALKS THROUGH OUR DOORS REPRESENTS AN INDIVIDUAL PERSON THAT GOD MADE, AND SOMEONE WITH WHOM HE WANTS TO HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP. WHAT AN AWESOME TRUTH! THAT IS THE MESSAGE THAT WE ARE CALLED TO SHARE WITH THE STUDENTS OF LELAND AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS. WE ASK STUDENTS TO CONNECT WITH FBC STUDENT MINISTRIES. CONNECTING WITH FBC STUDENT MINISTRIES MEANS….
- THEY HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST.
- THEY HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED AND PLACED THEIR MEMBERSHIP AT FBC.
- THEY ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN CORPORATE WORSHIP BOTH WITH THE BODY AND THE STUDENT MINISTRY.
- THEY ARE A PART OF AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS AND BIBLICAL ACCOUNTABILITY.
- THEY PARTICIPATE IN WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP AND BIBLE STUDY FOR THEIR SPIRITUAL GROWTH THROUGH A SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDY.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU BE APART OF OUR FAMILY HERE AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH! PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
Middle School
Middle School is all about looking for your identity. It can be a challenging time; trying to fit in, new school, crazy schedules, trying to prove yourself to others. Middle School is a time of developing relationships that will last throughout high school and beyond. We want to help you find who you are. We want to connect you with God and help you develop right relationships and support you when things get hard.
Our Junior High School students connect with God through our Wednesday Night Gatherings at 6:45 pm and Sunday morning Bible Study time at 9:30 am. Sunday Night Thang is a regular Sunday night time of fellowship and hanging out after evening services until 9:00 pm. On-going special events, concerts, retreats and activities are scheduled throughout the year. Camp at Fort Caswell is always a great experience for all our students. Fundraisers begin in February to help with the cost.
Junior High School students participate in small groups on Sunday morning. These small groups have periodic get-togethers, parties and outings.
During bi-annual Disciple Now retreats in the Fall and Spring, Junior High students participate in small group discipleship activities and outrageous events.
High School
Maybe your not into the "church" thing. That's all-right. We try to shatter the typical ideas and stereotypes about church and do our thing in our own way on Wednesdays at The Refuge. One of our greatest goals is to worship God in a way that allows people to feel comfortable. We want you to bring your friends.
Basically we are unique. We're Loud, sometimes a little crazy and we try our best to meet you where you are. So come and hang out at with us on Wednesdays at Jehovah Java. We want to just gather and experience life together in a real way.
We want to know what is going on with you. Stop by and see us, send an e-mail or call.
The Connection
Our weekly student worship service that meets on Wednesdays at 6:35 p.m. in the Student Center is a high energy worship time where we teach Biblical Truths in a relevant way for students. It is a great "starting place" for new students to FBC or to church in general. It is an environment where anyone can come and feel welcomed, but where boundaries exist so students can participate, hear, and understand the teaching from God's Word. Students are highly encouraged to come each week and to bring their friends! Video, music, multimedia, and much more are used each week to reach students. We will meet at 6:30 to fellowship together. Students will have a 50-60 minute time of worship and study, and participate in activities designed to promote unity among the group. This is a great avenue to bring other students into our ministry every week.
